jeni draper, sign language interpreter

sign language homepage

Jeni DraperJeni trained initially as an actor at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London having completed an English degree at Manchester Polytechnic. She has performed in a wide range of plays in a variety of venues all over Britain and Europe and was nominated Best Fringe Performer (MEN awards) in 2000. Jeni has also been seen on TV in Eastenders, The Bill and most recently Doctors playing a rather bossy mother of a Deaf teenager!

Jeni has been interpreting for five years now and has interpreted shows at London theatres including: Soho, Drill Hall, Almeida, Cochrane, Jacksons Lane, Oval, Clocktower, and for the following companies both in London and on tour: Graeae, The Red Room, Clean Break, Half Moon, Told by an Idiot, Unicorn, London International Mime Festival, Extant, Shunt and In Tandem.

Her work as an integrated Sign Language Interpreter / performer has been with Graeae, Half Moon, and the Young Vic. Together with Jenny Sealey (Artistic Director of Graeae) and Jean St Clair (Deaf actress and presenter), Jeni has devised and performed in two successful children’s shows for the Drill Hall, The Snow Queen and, last Christmas, Cinder’s Sisters. They have more ideas brewing!

Jeni loves swimming, Manchester United, her garden, dry white wine and going to the theatre (though not necessarily at the same time).

She is a fully qualified British Sign Language Interpreter MRSLI and LASLI registered.
