| Queen's nominated by Whybridge Infant School for the Havering Business & Education Partnership Award at the Havering Business Awards 2007
The Queen’s Theatre was delighted to be nominated by Whybridge Infant School for the Havering Business & Education Partnership Award. The nomination was given to commend the Queen’s Education Department for their valuable contribution to the school through an ongoing project. Claire Bailey, Education Officer, ran a series of drama workshops at Whybridge, helping the children to develop their communication, learn the value of teamwork and to strengthen their relationships with each other. As part of the project the children got the chance to perform on the Queen’s Theatre Foyer stage, take part in an exclusive back stage tour and to see the new theatre-in-education production. Luckily for the children the workshops didn’t have to end when Claire left, for she ensured that their teacher was fully trained to continue with the good work – and of course, Claire is never far away to give that extra support. Beth Flatley commented on the nomination, ‘Although we didn’t win, we were delighted to be a finalist. It’s good to know that everybody’s hard work is being recognised and more importantly, shown to be worthwhile’. The Queen’s Theatre was also shortlisted for the Business of the Year Award.
