The Award
and the Certificate
|
Everyone at
the Queen’s Theatre is rejoicing after winning the Havering
Business and Education Partnership Award at the Havering Business
Awards.
The Education
and Outreach Department’s extensive work with schools across
the borough was duly rewarded at the glittering gala evening organised
by Havering Council and hosted by comedian Hugh Dennis, held at
Maylands Golf and Country Club, Harold Park in September.
The Queen’s
beat off stiff competition from Abbs Cross School & Art College
and the Rose Office, Havering College.
The Theatre’s
thriving Education and Outreach programme works with local schools
and young people, producing four Theatre-in-Education tours to schools
throughout East London and Essex.
Earlier in the
year, judges named the Theatre a finalist in two categories: the
Business Education Partnership award and the Family, Leisure and
Tourism award.
The Awards,
which have been running for four years, reward excellence and innovation
within local businesses.
Queen’s
Theatre Administrative Director Thom Stanbury beamed: “We
are absolutely thrilled to have won this award. Our Education and
Outreach Department have worked very hard throughout the year to
get young people actively involved in and inspired by theatre and
the arts, so this is testament to all their efforts.”
