How To Look After Your Beanstalk
🌞 Sunlight – Place your pot somewhere bright and warm.
💧 Water – Keep the soil damp, but not too wet.
🪴 Repot – Move to a bigger pot when it’s 10–15cm tall.
📏 Support – Use a stick, cane or string to help it climb.
Yes – It Grows Real Beans!
✨ Your plant will grow edible beans later this summer.
🌸 Some grow red or white flowers.
🫘 Others produce purple beans that turn green when cooked!
👉 The more you pick and eat, the more your plant will grow!

Jack’s Beanstalk Growing Competition – Terms & Conditions
1. Overview
The Jack’s Beanstalk Growing Competition is organised by Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch (QTH) and is open to residents of the United Kingdom. Attendance at Jack’s Bean Planting Party is not required to enter or win the competition. Participation in the competition constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
2. Eligibility
The competition is open to UK residents. Entrants must be aged 24 or under on the closing date of 2 September 2025. Entrants under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or guardian. One entry per person.
3. How to Enter
To enter, participants must grow a beanstalk and submit a photograph showing its height by Monday 2 September 2025. Entries can be submitted via:- Social media using the hashtag #QTHBeanstalk

– Email to competitions@queens-theatre.co.uk with the subject line “Beanstalk Competition Entry”
By submitting your entry, you confirm you own the rights to the image and give QTH permission to use it as described below. QTH accepts no responsibility for lost, delayed, incomplete, or undeliverable entries due to technical issues or incorrect contact details.
4. Judging and Prizes
The winner will be selected based on the tallest verified beanstalk submitted by the deadline. Height must be supported by a clear photo showing the full plant and a visible measurement.
In the event of a tie, a tie-breaker will take place. The judging panel’s decision is final.
The prize includes:
– 4 tickets to the press night performance of Jack and the Beanstalk
– Free drinks and ice creams on the night
– A special panto-themed goody bag
There is no cash alternative and the prize is non-transferable.
5. Use of Submitted Images
Submitted entries may be displayed on Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch’s:
– Social media channels
– Website
– Foyer digital screens
– Public gallery displays within the theatre (e.g. café/gallery areas)
First names or initials only will be used unless explicit consent is given to publish full names.
6. Updates and Communications
Participants who attended the Bean Planting Party will receive special email updates throughout the summer. By entering the competition, you agree to be contacted by Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch regarding competition updates and related news. You may unsubscribe at any time.
By using the hashtag #QTHBeanstalk on social media, you consent to being contacted by QTH for competition-related communications.
7. Plant Disclaimer
Plant growth may vary depending on growing conditions and bean variety. Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch cannot guarantee flower or bean colour, flavour, or plant success.
