To mark this brilliant achievement, we’re inviting you to join us on 8 – 9 July as we host a celebratory fundraising weekend suitable for the whole family!

The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch is excited to announce its new season of superb comedy and thrilling drama to provide audiences with the very best in live entertainment. The season opens with a British premiere of the farcical comedy A Fox On The Fairway, written by Ken Ludwig, one of America’s most performed playwrights.

On Sunday 21 May, a feast of dance styles will come together as young people from across East London and Essex showcase their talents in the Queen’s Theatre’s annual dance festival, First Feat. It is a fantastic festival of creativity enabling local dance groups aged 11 – 19 from different backgrounds with varying styles and interests to be united by a passion for dance.

The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch has launched a new ‘pay what you think it’s worth’ initiative for two specially commissioned plays by two of the UK’s most exciting emerging playwrights. A talented cast from the renowned East 15 Acting School’s BA Acting course are set to stage a season of world premieres featuring two fantastic productions inspired by historical events.

The Queen’s Theatre is delighted with the wonderful praise it has received for its refreshing take of Educating Rita which opened earlier this week. Ros Philips’ production of this iconic, heart-warming two-handed play has received plenty of admiration from critics including four-star ratings.

Local audiences had their first chance to sit onstage at last night’s opening performance of Educating Rita and were left hugely captivated by this immersive viewing experience. The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch has extended its stage to create a truly unique and intimate setting for Willy Russell’s iconic two-handed play.

The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch is thrilled to be hosting four fantastic productions performed by youth theatre companies as part of the National Theatre’s annual Connections festival on 7 & 8 May. For just £5 theatregoers will be able to immerse themselves in two pieces of original theatre in one evening.

To encourage more young people to engage with live theatre, the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch has launched a fantastic scheme that enables young people to see its next huge comedy, Educating Rita for just a fiver. Theatregoers aged 25 and under will be able to fully immerse themselves in a theatrical experience unlike any other by sitting on stage for just £5 (reduced from up to £29).

The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch is set to stage a refreshing take of Willy Russell’s classic comedy Educating Rita, with Rita being portrayed as an ‘Essex girl’, instead of being Liverpudlian. It runs at the theatre from 22 April – 13 May.

Celebrations are in full flow at the Queen's Theatre! Critics and audiences have been hugely impressed with Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall’s original comedy, Worst Wedding Ever which opened on 15 March.

The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch is overjoyed that its current co-production, Worst Wedding Ever, has received two nominations in the prestigious Off West End Theatre Awards. Assessors from The Offies (Off West End Theatre Awards) have nominated Peter Hunter for Best Lighting Designer and James Button for Best Set Designer for their brilliant work on the hilarious new comedy, Worst Wedding Ever.

Their legs ache but it was definitely worth it - a number of Queen’s Theatre staff successfully raised their target of £3,000 for the theatre’s brilliant Learning & Participation department by competing in the Brentwood Half Marathon and 5K race at the weekend. Cheered on by friends and colleagues, Artistic Director Douglas Rintoul joined thousands of runners in the annual event, finishing the course in an impressive hour and 59 minutes – a personal best.

After months of anticipation, the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch has announced it will be staging Beauty and the Beast as this year’s pantomime. Audiences are invited to join in the fun as their favourite fairytale comes to life in a magical, action-packed panto for the whole family.
