Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch pantomime receives rave reviews and earns two Off West End Award nominations
Dick Whittington, this year’s annual pantomime at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, has received rave reviews from audiences and critics alike. This week The Offies (Off West End Theatre Awards) have announced that Dick Whittington has been nominated for ‘Best Panto Performance Ensemble 2024’ and ‘Best Panto Production 2024’. The Offies finalists will be announced in February next year.
Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch are thrilled to receive these nominations, especially after winning the Off West End 2023 Best Pantomime award for their production of Sleeping Beauty.
The annual awards known as The Offies launched in 2010. They celebrate the excellence, innovation and ingenuity of independent theatres across London, outside the West End.
Dick Whittington has garnered four 5-star reviews from The Havering Daily, Mum’s Guide to Romford, Time 107.5FM and The Usual Chaos, saying it’s “a performance that the whole family adores”, praising the show for “saucy seaside humour with traditional themes children will love” and for being “great fun”.
Also commending the production for being family-orientated, and awarding the show four stars, Southend Theatre Scene said “the children loved it… even the mums and dads got involved”.
Audiences have been applauding the pantomime as well. “Brilliant show. Lots of Giggles”, “a fantastic knock-out show” and “we came to the show last night: myself, my husband, my 15-year-old daughter, and my mum. We really had such a good night! So funny and very enjoyable. The actors are brilliant and extremely talented in so many ways. Highly recommend to all!”
