Love for Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch shines through at the 14th Annual Off West End Awards

Sunday 26 February was another historic moment in Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch’s (QTH) history as the Theatre was nominated for nine Off Stage Awards, and took home an extraordinary four of them at the 14th Annual Off West End Awards, held in front of over 850 guests at Woolwich Works.

At the beginning of the prestigious event, it was announced that QTH had won awards for Best Facilities, Most Comfortable, Online Info & Booking and Social Media Presence & Activities. Collected by Sarah Soliman, Head of Marketing & Press, Peter Thorne, Head of Customer Services & Facilities, and Julia Jones, Box Office Manager at QTH.

Everything Theatre, the renowned theatre news and reviews site stated, “the Off Stage Awards (formerly The People’s Vote Awards) are always an interesting insight into who can mobilise their audience the most. This year’s big winner appears to be Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch”. The Theatre are extremely grateful to their loyal customers who took the time to cast their vote.

The Off West End Hornchurch based producing venue also received a nomination for Best Panto Performance for last year’s pantomime Dick Whittington. And, Lotte Wakeham, Artistic Director of the Octagon Theatre Bolton was nominated for Best Director (Plays) for the The Book of Will. This was a co-production between Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, Octagon Theatre Bolton, and Shakespeare North Playhouse.

Mathew Russell, Executive Director of QTH passed the baton on for Best Panto as did Oliver Hembrough who won Supporting Performance in a Play for QTH’s production of All My Sons at last year’s ceremony.

At the beginning of the second part of the ceremony, guests were treated to a performance of a song from QTH’s last panto by the show’s Musical Director Tom Self. Tom wrote the original music and lyrics for all of the Dick Whittington score.

The icing on the cake was that Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch was then filmed by BBC News for a theatre piece that aired on Monday 27 February.
