QTH Welcomes Dominic Hedges as New Chair of the Board
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dominic Hedges as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees
Dominic is a theatremaker and researcher from East Ham with over fifteen years’ experience creating theatre with young people. He is the founder of Thumbs Down, a company dedicated to bringing different generations together on stage. He currently leads projects at Polka Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East. Alongside his practical work, Dominic is completing a PhD at the University of Kent, where his research explores the complexities of staging young performers and their impact on contemporary theatre.
Dominic brings a wealth of creative, educational, and community-focused expertise to the role, alongside a deep personal connection to Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch.
“I am incredibly proud to be taking over as Chair of the Board,” said Dominic. “Having attended this theatre regularly as a child, it holds a very special place in my heart, and I know firsthand the impact it has on our local community and beyond. As the building marks its 50th year, I am excited to work with the rest of the board and theatre staff to help guide Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch into its next chapter, ensuring it continues to make a difference for generations to come.”
His appointment comes at a significant moment in the theatre’s journey, as QTH marks 50 years in its purpose-built home and continues to play a central role in the life of the local community.
Now in its 72nd year, Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch remains a much-loved and vital part of cultural life in Outer East London and South Essex.
