Making Tomorrow’s Theatre

Silent Approach Masterclass

Separate Doors and Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch are partnering to offer a Masterclass and workshops for anyone interested in learning about how to create an accessible rehearsal space. Using non-verbal techniques, the Silent Approach has been developed to allow work with professional learning-disabled, neurodivergent and non-disabled performers to take place on an equitable basis.

The Masterclass and workshops are free, but you do need to book your space, and we kindly ask that you cancel your ticket if you can no longer make it.

What will I learn?
• How to direct and rehearse text-based theatre without relying on words and scripts.
• An accessible way to work with actors who process and use language differently.
• How to set up, run and manage a rehearsal room in a way that works well for neurodivergent and learning-disabled talent.
• How to see the rehearsal room and standard process through a new perspective and find new ways to work with different kinds of people.

Who is it for?
Theatre professionals, theatre professionals in training, youth theatre leaders, workshop facilitators, actors and anyone interested in how to create an accessible rehearsal space. The afternoon sessions are open to anyone who enjoys singing and dancing, professionally or for fun.

Ronnie, Reggie & Me with Fred Dinenage

The definitive insight into the real lives of Britain’s most notorious gangsters, from their trusted official biographer. For decades they were feared as the ultimate criminal gang lords of the London underworld, but their reign of terror came crashing to an end when in 1969 both Ronnie and Reggie Kray were given life sentences by a judge at the Old Bailey. Reggie went on to serve decades in some of the toughest prisons in the country, while Ronnie became a patient at Broadmoor with an insanity that was only kept under control by massive doses of drugs.

TV legend Fred Dinenage was chosen by the twins to tell their official story, and he became one of the very few people allowed into their inner circle. Fred gained an unparalleled insight into the real lives of the legendary kings of crime, and in this show, he reveals stories and situations for the first time that have never been told publicly before. Including recordings he made while visiting Ronnie at Broadmoor.

Join Fred in person as he discloses what it was like to venture into some of Britain’s toughest institutions and meet the most foreboding twins in criminal history, who other journalists just couldn’t get close to. You’ll hear stories that will fascinate and intrigue, while learning about the gritty reality of being a gangster in the criminal underworld of the swinging 60s, from the only man they trusted to tell their tale.
