M. G. Boulter

Following his successful tour in Autumn 2022, which brought his Clifftown album to life through specially shot film projections and an enhanced touring band, M G Boulter is preparing live shows for Spring 2023.

It’s was a busy 2022 for M G having toured extensively with his Clifftown show but also undertaking his live duties as a member of Jon Boden’s Remnant Kings. He also recorded and released his new EP ‘A Shadow Falls over New Brighton’ on Hudson Records, as well as the joint single, ‘Flint Knapped’ with Shetland songwriter Jenny Sturgeon. 2023 promises to be equally productive with a new album being recorded in March (with BBC Folk Award winning producer Andy Bell and an ensemble of some the country’s best known folk musicians) and more singles planned with Jenny. Garnering praise from reviewers like Uncut describing his work as “gorgeous in a word” and R2 listing him as “a weapons grade songwriter”, expect a more intimate show for 2023 combining new album material and storytelling, highlighting M G’s songs as an important contemporary voice in the long tradition of the singer-songwriter.

Exhibition: A History of Women’s Football

To celebrate the world premiere of The Invincibles, we are delighted to showcase a unique exhibition telling the story of 150 years of women’s football. A world-class collection of memorabilia, the exhibition explores the development of women’s football from the Victorian era to the Women’s World Cup of 2023.

Rare and distinctive items dating from the turn of the century to present day are on display, including items from the women’s football legend Lizzy Ashcroft Collection and her grandson Steve’s personal collection which is packed with culturally significant artefacts.

You will have the chance to touch and smell the leather of vintage football boots and balls, take a peek inside match day programmes from across the decades and enjoy reading from our loaned library of women’s football books in the café.

In spite of repeated English FA bans on women’s football, the game has flourished through the decades. This exhibition highlights the skill and determination of women like Carmen Pomies, Lizzy Ashcroft and Lily Parr, who blazed a trail for women’s football playing for the famous Dick Kerr Ladies, celebrating their achievements and those of our Lionesses today.

The world has changed, yet the Women’s World Cup evokes The Invincibles joyous spirit. For Hornchurch teenager Maya, it’s the event of the summer.

MURMURATIONS

Presented by Havering Changing and Tangled Feet
Written by Steve Waters, directed by Nathan Curry

This is theatre with a difference and a chance to explore a hidden local treasure.

Put on a pair of headphones, meet your tour guide and walk through the stunning natural landscape of Bedfords Park – a nature reserve on the edge of a city. In this guided walk and theatre show you never know who’s going to jump out from behind the next bush! Through your headphones you’ll eavesdrop on a married couple trying to rekindle their flame, estate agents selling the dream and a botanist protecting the plants. But how are they all connected? And what has brought them to Havering’s incredible nature reserve?

How do we protect the nature we have whilst trying to survive in difficult times? What are we protecting and why? In a world where nature needs our help but people’s lives are under more and more pressure, what small act can change the world?

Murmurations was originally devised in association with National Trust, RSPB, UEA, and Arts & Humanities Research Council. It enjoyed a sell out premiere at National Trust Wicken Fen & RSPB Strumpshaw Fen in 2021. In 2022 it was reworked for another sell out run at Hartlepool Waterfront Festival, and returns this Autumn, reimagined to celebrate the London Borough of Havering and Bedfords Park. Murmurations features stories of local people and their relationship with the area’s unique green landscape.

Tangled Feet are an Artist-led NPO funded company based in Luton who create original, visually stunning, transformative performances, sometimes inside theatres but often in other public spaces. We create atmospheres and experiences for the audience which are thrilling, surprising and memorable, which always feel ‘live’ and in the moment, where the unique reality of this audience, in this moment, right here is acknowledged and celebrated.

Age guidance 11+. This show contains adult language.

A free shuttle bus leaves 45 minutes before the show from North Romford Community Centre, Collier Row and 30 minutes before the show from myplace, Harold Hill. It will return you to the departure point after the show.
