This observation session will allow you to see how a brand new drama is created in rehearsals with a company of actors discovering the characters for the very first time and directed by QTH’s Creative Director Alex Thorpe. There’ll also be the chance to speak to our Producing team about the rehearsal process.

You’ve had a peak into the rehearsal room, now come and see how it all comes together on the stage. Outer Limits – Marketing Your Work with Kathryn Winter

QTH Director of Audiences and Development, Kathryn Winter, leads a practical workshop exploring how artists and theatre makers can connect their work with audiences. Through discussion and exercises, participants will explore audience development, refine how they talk about their projects and discover tools that can support marketing, design and audience research. This workshop is aimed at producers and theatre makers looking to build confidence in promoting their work and developing audiences.

Outer Limits – Listening as Dramaturgy with Joe Lichtenstein

Every room already contains a play. The stories are there — in the people around you, in the gaps between what’s said and what’s meant. This session is about learning to hear them. Led by director Joe Lichtenstein, this workshop takes a simple premise: we listen to each other’s stories, find the thread connecting them, and make something together. No prior performance experience required. Writers find character. Directors find structure. Actors find truth. Come ready to speak, to listen, and to be surprised by what the room makes possible. All sessions are Pay What You Can and will take place on location here at QTH.

Outer Limits – A Q&A With Steven Atkinson from The Royal Court Theatre

Join digital, film and theatre producer Steven Atkinson for a Q&A session to learn about his journey from founding new writing organisations HighTide and Roots, to joining the Royal Court in 2024 as Head of Producing and Partnerships. He executive produces Royal Court Theatre productions including the Tony winning Giant which opened at the Royal Court before a West End and now Broadway transfer. Steven will share industry insights and advice on producing your own work and creating and sustaining an arts company.

Outer Limits – Directing Panto – Oh yes You Can! with Kate Lovell

Drawing on experiences of directing Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, Kate will cover the pivotal role of the audience, call and response, traditions, casting and approaches to modernisation. This workshop is for early and mid-career directors.

Outer Limits – Preparing for Auditions with Limited Time with Alex Thorpe

Alex Thorpe, QTH Co-Creative Director, will lead a practical workshop and Q&A on how you might prepare for an audition when you only have a limited amount of time.

This workshop is for professional actors who are early or mid-career. You will have graduated from a recognised drama school and/or have completed your first professional acting job with a run of at least 11 performances. Equally, you may have an established and current professional acting career.

Outer Limits – Loot Rehearsal Observation

A limited number of spaces are available to observe rehearsals for Loot, Directed by Bethany Pitts.

Additionally, we are providing access to our technical rehearsals for Loot, followed by a Q&A with our producing team.
